Wednesday’s Weekly Reader: Halloween Special
On 29, Oct 2008 | No Comments | In Animation, Inspiration | By Lorraine
Since Friday is Halloween, which just happens to be my favorite holiday (followed closely by April Fool’s Day), I thought I’d share some fun Halloween links this week. But first, I want to give a big shout-out to Linden for unveiling her brand new site! She’s gotten her own domain and switched to WordPress! Congrats! I can’t wait to see the rest of the site once it goes live. I’ve updated my link to her to the lower right. And now, on to the festivities:
Pumpkin Carving:
What’s Halloween without a Jack-o-lantern?
- Etsy’s Storque posted an excellent How-To for this Cannibal Pumpkin:

- Hallmark Magazine had an awesome pumpkin idea, and I keep seeing it crop up in my feed-reader:

Cre-a-tiv-ity breaks down all of the link love for you.
Forget the tricks, and go straight for the treats!
- Kitsune Noir sets the mood with Hellaween – a mixtape as free download
Sadly, Feed My Frankenstein, The Monster Mash are Not included
Guess I’ll have to make my own mix too… - Stickers and Donuts posted 13 Halloween finds – I totally agree with the awesome Target Domo promotion
- One of my favorite sites, Animation Backgrounds, has been posting Halloween-themed backgrounds all week. (And as Drawn! pointed out, they make great desktop backgrounds!) What better way to start off than with Nightmare Before Christmas:

And Finally:
- Coudal’s Jim posts a beautiful essay on the True Meaning of Halloween
-
Thanks for announcing my new site! I can’t wait to launch the rest, if you know what I mean (and I think you do!)!!
-
I LOVE the cannibal pumpkin! I wish I could come up with cool ideas like that. I always get really awesome ideas throughout the year and then when it comes to carving time, I never remember what my ideas were so i usually end up with something rather plain.
PS – I responded to your question on editing themes on my post. Hope it helps
