Currently Reading: Designer’s Review of Books

I thought about waiting to post this on the next Weekly Reader, but thought “what the heck? I may as well post it now.” So I am. Designer’s Review of Books is currently cropping up all over the design blogs that I read and for good reason. Andy Polaine noticed a general lack in blogs devoted to reviewing books on all aspects of design and decided to rectify that. Personally, I’m thrilled he did and a little jealous…because with as much as I love books, I can’t think of a better job (or idea) to have. And am now just going to direct anyone needing a Booklist to his site.

Hi Lorraine – thanks for the shout for the DRB. Hope you enjoy what is to come, which will also include some guest reviews from other designers. It is, of course, a pleasure to review design books, but it’s also a pressure when I look at the the pile on my desk yet to review! I really don’t want to just skim through them, but properly read them through, so it’s quite time intensive. I’ll not complain though.
p.s. If you want a nicer scaled version of the masthead, steal the one from my personal blog, Playpen: http://www.polaine.com/playpen/2008/11/21/the-designers-review-of-books-launches/

Thanks Andy: I dropped it in. But yes, I can just imagine the pressure from all of those books staring at you in the face. Of course, I’m sure there are plenty who would gladly help you out with that, myself included.
Ha!
